Online Hungarian teacher – learn Hungarian online

Hello! I am a native Hungarian-speaking online Hungarian teacher offering Hungarian language courses through video calling. This an English language section of my Hungarian website – Hungary being the country where I am located physically.

Contrary to teachers you will find on the major teacher aggregator websites, I am actually qualified in linguistics, with an MA in theoretical linguistics, as well as the CELTA certificate. Although the CELTA is for teaching the English language, the general principles of language teaching and linguistics are transferable between languages.

Thus, I am a more qualified online Hungarian teacher than the ones you will usually find on the website that starts with a P, with years of real world experience in a language classroom.

I don’t recommend signing up on the website that starts with a P to learn Hungarian. You are likely to get a 20-year-old with no teaching qualifications. You will be doing yourself a disservice, even if the hourly fee might be a little lower.

By the way you can get in touch with me by:

Facebook messenger:

Telegram:

Signal messenger:

I have various messaging apps we can connect on once we establish first contact such as facebook messenger, signal and telegram. (these apps can also serve as the video conferencing medium for the lessons themselves as well as contact in between lessons, texting, etc)

If you take privacy seriously you can use Protonmail and Signal messenger to send me messages totally inaccessible by a third party.

So what are the core components of a good language lesson that an unqualified teacher might not be aware of? What are the aspects of language learning that I focus on specifically?

This is includes many things such as honing in on productive (speaking) tasks for the majority of the lesson, which means that at least half of it (or more) will require you to be speaking and trying to transfer passive grammar and vocabulary points to your ACTIVE RESERVOIR. This is a complicated concept, but I am happy to discuss it with you if you are interested.

Another important aspect of linguistics is pronunciation. As a native speaker of both English and Hungarian, I am fully aware of the challenges that English speakers face when trying to learn foreign language pronunciation, especially in the context of the Hungarian language. This is because English is one of the most difficult accents to master for speakers of other European languages and conversely (and unfortunately), native English speakers face the toughest battle when it comes to mastering the accents of other languages. However, I try my best to help my students with this process.

Obviously, these are just examples and there are many other important aspects of applied linguistics.

Lesson fee is 27 EUR/USD per hour
